No woman can avoid the symptoms of menopause, although the frequency and severity of symptoms varies widely. A recent article by Veerus and colleagues report that the quality of life does not depend directly on the use of hormone treatment, although women using hormone replacement therapy have less hot flashes and related sleep disturbances.

Typical symptoms of menopause are vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes), vaginal dryness and sleep disturbances. The likelihood of other symptoms is greater if women have vasomotor symptoms.

In recent years, hormone therapy has been introduced as a solution to the symptoms of menopause and has proven effective in relieving hot flashes. The users of hormone therapy report less hot flashes, dryness and sleep disturbances, although this is not directly related to a better quality of life, as well as other conditions influencing cultural factors, early onset of menopause and duration of phase perimenopausal affecting the welfare of women.
